This week's challenge had the designers making a new garment out of the wedding dress of a recently divorced woman. Meant to empower the divorcee as she begins a new chapter of her life, some designers made wonderful dresses, while some missed the mark completely.
Tapping into her own divorced history, SunnyYugoslavia created a shredded punk rock look that made her client look 10 years younger. Using only the lining of the old dress, which she hand-dyed, SunnyYugo was finally able to show her unique point of view as a designer, earning the first victory she has seen all season.
Shirin & Not-Shirin were also praised for utilizing the most fabric from the former wedding gowns (and Shirin didn't have all that much to work with), and both found themselves in the Top Three this week.
Meanwhile, ChinStrap ended up in the Bottom Three again for making a silver garbage bag dress with too much volume & crinkle. Thankfully, he didn't cry over his failure so much this week.
HotLogan showed us a sloppily executed pantsuit with unflattering proportions all over the place. He was spared the cut, but just barely.
It was BobMarley who got the Gunn Kiss of Death, mostly because somehow he didn't understand he was supposed to use the wedding dress fabric in his new design! Lay off the reefer, my friend. Heidi said his union jack corset brought to mind images of Oktoberfest and pirates' wenches, which earned him a one-way ticket home.
Overall, this has been a lackluster season, hopefully in the second half, the designers will start to step it up. Here's hoping!
