New details and a full event schedule for the forthcoming, first-ever Philadelphia Fashion Week (er, weekend) have been released. The event, which takes place at the 23rd Street Armory in Center City will be held October 8-10th, is set to be an eclectic mix of fashion, food, drink, art and culture.
DETAILS
The doors will open each day at 4pm for guests 21 and older to enjoy cocktails and refreshments as well as shop the 12 on-site pop-up boutiques from designers like Cristina V., i Pearl Fashions, K Louise, Mesa Enterprises, Tracy Lynn and more.
The 20-minute-long runway shows will begin promptly at 5pm , followed by headlining concerts which will take place each night at 8pm. TV personality, and somewhat-local, David Evangelista, will emcee the opening night.
DESIGNERS
As for the designers, it will be a mix of student and small, under-the-radar designers that are either local or based elsewhere, but sold in Philadelphia.
Each night will spotlight an area design college with Moore College of Art & Design on the 8th, Philadelphia Univ. on the 9th and Art Institute on the 10th as they compete for the Macy's Student Design Award, where the winning school will showcase their designs and have an encore runway show at Macy's Center City on October 13th.
Rounding out the 17 main designers are: Brooklyn Royalty, Wrath Arcane, Love Brigade, Kill City, GAR-DE, Nine Days, S.LOVE, Triple Five Soul, Parke & Ronen and locals: SA VA, Melani von Alexandria, Commonwealth Proper, Marina Makaron Moscow, Strangefruit, Street Star Custom Clothing, Palmieri Jeans and Delicious.
ENTERTAINMENT
Nightly music entertainment include acts like The Hustle, Tu Phace, Black Landlord, This Is A Shakedown, Sonny James, Rivers Monroe, The Model and a slew of DJs.
TICKETS
We have to admit, we were a little surprised to learn about the money part since typical "Fashion Weeks" are a free, invite-only event for media, retailers and fashion influencers, but in Philly, the idea is to "invite residents and visitors to celebrate the vibrant fashion, food, and arts and culture scene in Philadelphia," said Kristie Bergey, executive director of PFW.
"Student" One-Day Passes are $35 each, with 3-Day Passes, $100, "Red Carpet" (though they don't tell us what this means or includes) One-Day Passes are $75 each with a 3-Day being $150. And they also offer "VIP" tickets starting at a staggering $1500.
For those who can't make it out, we'll be there with a full recap for you each night. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out! And hopefully, if it proves a success, we can have an exciting new fashion tradition.
